Safescan 155-S - Error Messages
-
Whenever your detector encounters a possible counterfeit (or detects that something went wrong), it will show an error message. Read along to understand what each error message means and what you should do.
If you are getting multiple error messages very frequently, then please check if your device has the latest software version. You can check and download our updates here.
Please note that the error messages below only apply to the Safescan 155-S and Safescan 155-S G2. Simply click here to find out which version of the Safescan 155 you have.
Error E01 - Length
The message E01 is shown when the inserted banknote has a deviating length. This message can be triggered by a counterfeit, or when you hold on to the banknote for too long when feeding it into the device.
Make sure that you let go of the banknote when you feel the device pulling it in. If you still get the message, please inspect the banknote more closely.
Error E02 / E03 - Magnetic Ink
Both error messages E02 and E03 are triggered by deviating magnetic properties in the banknote. This can happen when the banknote is not genuine, but it can also occur that the magnetic properties are harder to read for the device (due to wear and tear of the banknote).
It can help if you flip the banknote and try to check it again.
Error E04 / E05 - Infrared
Whenever the device detects different or fewer infrared properties than it's supposed to, it will show the error message E04 or E05. This can happen when banknotes are really old and their infrared elements have worn off a little.
Have a closer look at the banknote and review its state. If the banknote is really old, it could still be genuine. If the banknote looks very new and crisp it could be a possible counterfeit. In both cases, please make sure to inspect the banknote well.
If these messages show up frequently, you might need to update or clean your device. You can check our latest updates here. Cleaning your device is very easy with our cleaning cards.
If the device continues to show these messages (especially the message E05) after all these steps, please contact our support team.
Error E06 - Thickness & Double Notes
The error message E06 indicates that the banknote has a deviating thickness. This is often caused because something is stuck to the banknote. This could be anything from a piece of tape to another banknote.
Make sure that nothing is stuck to the banknote and feed it through the device again.
Error E07 - Slant
The error message E07 is shown when the banknote is not inserted correctly. Usually at an angle. Make sure that you insert the banknote straight.
Error E08 - Metallic Thread
The device will show the error message E08 whenever it cannot correctly identify the metallic thread in a banknote. This can indicate that the banknote isn't genuine, but it can also be triggered because the metallic thread has faded a little and is harder to detect.
It can help to flip the banknote and feed it through the device again. If the message keeps showing up, please inspect the banknote further.
Error E09 / E12 - Infrared
The error message E09, E10, E11, and E12 are shown when the device detects different or less infrared elements. This can happen when banknotes are really old and their infrared elements have worn off a little.
Have a closer look at the banknote and review its state. If the banknote is really old it could still be genuine. If the banknote looks very new and crisp. In both cases please make sure to inspect the banknote well.
Error E14 / E22 - Colour
If you see the error message E14, E15, E16, E17, E18, E19, E21, or E22, then the device has detected deviating colour properties. This could mean that the colours are incorrect, and the banknote is a counterfeit. But it can also mean that the colours of the banknote have faded and are harder to detect correctly.
Check the banknote. If it looks really new and crisp, please review it more closely.
Error E20
The error message E20 indicates that the banknote has not been fed through the device correctly or that the top of the device is not closed all the way.
Make sure that the top is closed correctly and that the banknote is inserted straight and at the right position before you feed the banknote through again.
Error A/P
If you see an error message starting with A or P when you power the device on, please contact our support team.
